Singyee Dance Group is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New Jersey. We are an all-volunteer organization, supported by an all-women membership and generous donors who support our mission and share our commitment to the charitable community service. As a mission-first organization, all program revenue supports our charitable activities.
Singyee Dance Group’s journey began in 2018, when our founder, Sherry Chen, formed a small community dance group under the name “Yiran Dance Group.” What started as a volunteer-based gathering of women who loved dance and wellness quickly grew into a vibrant, tightly connected team.
In 2020, with the support of team members, the group was registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the name Chill Mamas Dance Group, to better serve the community through dance. Sherry continued to lead the team with tireless efforts, teaching and choreographing countless beautiful performances for local events, cultural festivals, and senior centers.
In October 2024, the group was honored with the Cultural Ambassador Award by the New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce, recognizing its contributions to cultural exchange and community service.
In May 2025, after years of dedicated volunteer service, Sherry made the thoughtful decision to leave the original organization and establish a new dance group — Singyee Dance Group — as a return to her original vision:
To bring joy, connection, and meaning to the community through simple love of dancing.
Many of the members who joined Sherry back in 2018 followed her to Singyee Dance Group today, united by love, trust, and sisterhood. Singyee is not only a new beginning — it is also a homecoming.
